As part of Heritage Open Days, the Leatherhead Theatre is hosting an exhibition focusing on the history, design and construction of the Theatre.
From its origins as Victoria Hall, on the High Street, to the construction of
its current Brutalist building opening in 1969. The Leatherhead Theatre has had a long history, one which we are passionate about continuing into the future. Designed by theatre architect Roderick Ham and named for a time after prolific stage actress Sybil Thorndike, the unique architecture of this Grade II Listed building deserves to be appreciated and admired.
There will also be an exhibition of production photographs from its time as the Thorndike Theatre, featuring many famous faces, plays and musicals.
The auditorium will be open with people free to walk around the stage and adjoining dressing rooms, allowing visitors to experience the space from the perspective of an actor rather than an audience
member.
The Box Office and Coffee Shop will also be open for those wanting to book a ticket to any of our shows or just relax for a while.
The event is free to attend, no booking required.
